What’s Your Biggest Challenge? Win a Prize.

Well I’ve got a box full of $100 “Earn An Income By Creating Your Own DVD” and I’m moving in 5 weeks, so I’d better get busy distributing them. :)

I figured a great way to start would be to have a “question time” where I ask you a question and then reward the best responses.

Here’s the rules. One answer (entry) per comment, you can leave as many comments as you like. If you don’t have a clear answer to the question, but what to just discuss the question or related thoughts, anything goes and anything on topic will be considered as a possible winner.

I’m the judge and jury.

I may award more than one DVD prize if I feel there is more than one deserving response.

I will ship the DVD anywhere in the world, at my expense.

Contest is open until Midnight Mountain time (UTC -7) on Sunday July 29th, 2007. On Tuesday AM, I’ll post the winner.

I’m not pretending that I’ll be able to answer the questions. If I can, I will, but mostly I’m just curious about what people feel holds them back.

Here’s the official question…

What’s the one thing that limits or prevents you from reaching your goals with your efforts to earn money online?

Another way to look at it would be…

“If I had _______ I would be able to easily create a six figure (and beyond) income.”

The best answers get the $100 DVD, which shows you how to earn a living by creating and selling your own DVDs.

Have a great weekend,

Jon Symons

What's Your Biggest Challenge - Results added these pithy words on Jul 31 07 at 4:14 am

The answer is: Lack of motivation and willpower. I could be making that online in 1-2 years and I know it, but I am somehow blocked/lazy :-(

nothing. nothing is stopping me except time and determination. soon i will have the time (I am leaving my desk job in a month). Determination is not an issue, I have that. I would like this DVD. But in actual fact no one here really needs it. There is a tendency to read and read and read. What we all need to do, IS ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING. If you have determination, you will find the time. If you have the time then you dont need this DVD.

I would need more time to pursue the task, and more technical knowledge to build the systems required to make six figures.

Not seeing the big picture and trying to do it all myself — learning all the technology, responding to changes online and not hiring out –having the “mindset” (excuse) of “It will take me longer to teach someone else, so I might as well do it myself.” With the help of the 4 Hour Work Week, I have started to turn over routine tasks to others and automate more.

I would love to win this dvd — thanks for the contest. I enjoy reading your blog posts.

What’s the one thing that limits or prevents you from reaching your goals with your efforts to earn money online?

That’s exactly it. My efforts at the moment aren’t good enough in order to make me a full-time online money earner. I think for me it comes down to sheer laziness. I’ve bought a few sites in order to flip them, but then I just can’t be bothered to simply write the content that will make them profitable.

In all honesty, informational products aren’t really going to help you create that 6 figure income online. In most scenarios you’re going to have to think-up a new model which is unused and unheard of in your niche. I say most however, because if I win the DVD, I hope that it will show me the way to riches and financial freedom.

MORE TIME, MORE TIME, MORE TIME….I have all the bases covered but the time factor. If I can get a system down in place where I can manage the time I have available, I could easily reach my goals.

Simple – true and sincere commitment.

being handicapped and being so poor that I couldn’t afford my computer are the two things that wouldn’t make me be able to get rich online, and since I’m not handicapped and I have my own computer, I know I´m gonna get my goals -I know I won`t need any cd`s to get rich- (even though when I live in a “3rd world country” Venezuela where piracy is welcome)

If I had Jon Symons working for me I would be able to easily create a six figure (and beyond) income.

My biggest problem is focus. I have the time and the commitment, and I’m continually taking action. But I split up my time between 1001 tasks, many of which are probably unnecessary, and most of which don’t really get me any closer to my goals. I need to learn how to concentrate on ONE project until it’s finished, without being distracted by all the other things vying for my attention.

I would guess the lack of knowledge in technical issues.

I blogged for years on a buddy’s site because I was too ignorant about technical matters to set up my own. I thought it was difficult (thanks to your videos, I now know that it isn’t).

Time, of course, I’m time strapped but I do waste some of that precious resouce so I can’t use that as an excuse.

COURAGE.
Plain and simple. If I had the correct mindset, I would not be scared to leave my J.O.B to give my sites my full time effort.

For me, it comes down to the fear of failing and not having the courage to go for it on my own.

Time! I am taking care of my elderly parents (86 & 85) and need to find a way to ensure that I have enough money so that I don’t find myself in their situation in 30 or 40 years. My “working” time must be sandwiched into irregular spaces after I have met their needs.

Linda added these pithy words on Jul 29 07 at 9:12 am

Traffic.

I can always make time. No matter how unmotivated, or uncreative I feel, I can pound out 500 words on any topic that comes to mind. Maybe it’s just my ego talking, but I think I’m interesting, and I think readers would enjoy my blog.

If only I had some.

Three weeks ago I was averaging almost twice as much traffic as I had this week. I have no idea what I did wrong, but my numbers make me sad. I am still learning how to market myself. Right now it seems like nothing is working, but I suspect today’s efforts will pay dividends eventually. I’ve held back some of my best ideas, including a site re-design, waiting until I move to a better hosting company. I’m hoping the changes work for me when I can make them.

It sucks that I missed the contest but I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and as the comments above illustrate the real answer is “me”.

I’M the one thing preventing me from achieving my goals of making money online. Whether it be lack of confidence, laziness, ineffective time management – they all come down to personal limitations.

In my case it’s been a curse of “thinking small”, of shooting too low when really the sky is the limit. I come from the independent video game field where people regularly struggle to make even $1,000 dollars a month and everyone’s potential seems shackled by their own narrow definitions of what’s possible.

There are few, if any, people in that community who would dare dream of a million dollar payday, and if publicly spoken they would be laughed at and called naive.

Dreaming big and believing it’s possible is one of the most important and toughest habits to build.

I believe the answer to be “If i had the ability to *focus on one project at a time* I would be able to easily create a six figure (and beyond) income.”

You may have all the time in the world but if you are unfocused you will still get nowhere. conversely you may be time-poor but if you are focused on a project that is likely to work and see it through to completion success should (in theory) come knocking at your door.
