What If?

One of my constant worries is…what if? The biggest two what ifs on my mind, when it comes to my internet business are…my hard drive dies?…or the even bigger: someone breaks into my house and steals my computer?

For the first ‘what if’ I have my files backed up to a second hard drive, but this leaves the second one. You can also add fire and water damage to the variations of the second ‘what if’.

So at the top of my to-do list for a long time now has been to find a good and safe backup solution. What I thought I was going to do was grab a couple of small portable hard drives and just rotate sending them to a friends house or my office at work.

But last night I was watching CNN [don't tell anyone, please] and they did a little feature on XDrive.com. It’s funny because XDrive was one of the first cool sites that I found in 1999 when I was a web newbie [they were free back then, but they only gave you 10 megs as I recall].

XDrive gives you 5 gigs of secure, backed up online storage that you can access from anywhere [a big bonus over the 'store your backups at your friend's house option'] for 10 bucks a month. They also have this cool software that you install so to your computer it looks like there is another hard drive. You just drag files into the X drive icon and they are automatically uploaded to their servers.

The also have an auto backup scheduler that will allow you to choose to backup the files you chose automatically every day without having to remember to do it…good for a forgetful one like me!

As I mentioned $10 a month for complete business piece of mind seems like a great deal to me…you can test out my affiliate link ;-) and get a free trial of XDrive. What If?
