The Days of the Week - Art of Money Style
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed.
I realized that I have been thinking a lot about what makes a successful blog for the past couple weeks and I decided that one of the key factors was having a clear focus.
Does Art of Money have a clear focus?….uh…not so much. What think is that this lack of clarity actually makes it more difficult for me to post quality content rather than making it easier [the old lack of constraint theory].
It’s hard to be fully creative without structure and constraint. Try to paint without a canvas. Creativity and freedom are two sides of the same coin. I like the best of both worlds. Want freedom? Get organized. Want to get organized? Get creative. David Allen
Now I know better than to trash all my categories and start over so what I am going to do is give each day a “theme.” Each weekday will feature an article targeted at one aspect of online business.
New site byline will be something like [I'll finalize when I get it to sound a little more snappy]:
“Creating financial freedom by building an Internet business”
The daily topics will then cover off what is involved in such an undertaking.
Internet Business Definition Mondays- we’ll start the week with a definition of a key Internet business concept.
Tech Tuesdays - these will most like how to type posts where I dive into something on the technical side of things.
Rich Dad Wednesday - mostly focusing on how your thoughts and attitudes create your financial situation. I’ll take a concept from one of Robert’s books and apply it to my life and business.
Thursday Business Basics - one business concept each week. Accounting principles, process design, building systems or anything else related to creating a real business!
Free-for-all Fridays - could be my speedlinking series or anything else.
We’ll see if the posting structure turns out to be a great idea and actually stimulates creativity or if it turns out to be restriction.
For now I feel inspired and I’m looking forward to the first post for “Tech Tuesday” tomorrow. Watch for “How To Chose an Email Address” where I’ll point out the pros and cons of the various types of email addresses.

Jon,
I wonder when you’d bring David Allen’s GTD concepts into the mix.
Re creating Financial Freedom… I love this Bob Dylan quote a lot. (replace man/he with woman/she as appropriate)
“A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between he does what he wants to do.”
regards
Hi Mark,
It makes sense…in a non-linear way.
I’m not too sure that Bob made it to bed many nights…but he sure was creative
I’m having a similar experience with my blog at the moment. Although because mine is first & foremost a personal site & blog, I tend to just post random stuff in my head, presented in - what I hope is - an interesting way.
Only time will tell if this is a sustainable approach to blogging…
Incidentally, I like your first Tech Tuesday post - I’m working on a related Resources section, so I’ll be linking to you.
Kx
I went to that format with http://www.NoLimitsLadies.com .
Financial freedom is such a HUGE topic to blog on. I found it overwhelming. So I broke it down. I have More Money Mondays (with ideas for fast cash) and Frugal Fridays (finding cash the other way). The other 3 days are freeflow.
It’s been working for me.
Kimber…I have to say it’s really working for me so far too. Just knowing what topic I’ll be writing about the next day really helps me get the juices flowing.
I’m sure many a writer or artist has thought of lopping off a body part or two staring at a blank piece of paper or canvas and not knowing what to do to get started
Thanks Kx…I’ll check it out when you’ve got it posted.
