Scoopt Words - Revenue Source for Bloggers?

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed.

Scoopt WordsScoopt is a new service that acts as a broker between you and publishers who may want to purchase your more commercial writing.

It’s quick and easy. Sign up with Scoopt, carry a ScooptWords button on your blog and editors buy content they want to print and you want to sell.

It looks like Scoop started out a service that sold images…they haven’t updated the reasons to join yet…so in your mind just strike out images and replace it with writing:

10 REASONS TO JOIN1) Scoopt works! We’ve sold pictures and videos on 4 continents.

2) It’s free to join and upload pics.

3) You never know when you will see something newsworthy.

4) News and magazine editors come to Scoopt looking for YOUR pictures.

5) Your pictures could be worth big money — and sell time and time again.

6) Our worldwide contacts and experience in sales get you the best possible deal.

7) The quicker you send us your pics, the more they can be worth. Joining makes it easier to send us your pics.

8) Scoopt is responsible and ethical.

9) Why give your content away for free when you can get paid like a professional?

10) We were the first agency to sell pictures on behalf of citizen journalists — and we’ll always be the best.

You can check it out at ScooptWords. If you sign up you can expect to be treated as a photographer…I’m assuming they will get a flow going for writers soon [A link on their home page to the Words section of their site would be a good start].

What you do is put this button Buy content through ScooptWords on your site and anyone who comes to your site and may want to purchase one of your stories can click the button and Scoopt takes care of the rest. The revenue split is 50/50 for the first sale and then you get a 75% cut from any and other sales they make of your work.

I think it’s a great idea, they need to get better organized but the business model is sound. They don’t get paid until they have delivered a sale for you so there is no risk to give it a try. Whether my content is salable remains to be determined, but for writers who have a lot of specific information on a particular topic there is potential to open up a nice new source of funds…after all everyone needs content and more and more off-line outlets are searching for it online.
