Funny How The Internet Works

A couple weeks ago I wrote a quick post (with crappy pictures because I was too lazy to wait until daylight to take good ones) about my sticky note to-do list system. A couple days later it got picked up on Life Hacker and I quadrupled my best traffic day ever with over 2000 unique visitors.

Yesterday, I had a 20 minute phone interview with a reporter from Newsweek !!!! They had seen the story on Life Hacker and wanted to include it in an article about electronic vs. traditional methods of managing to-do lists. No chance that could have happened before the advent of blogs.

Help Me Pick a Logo

Here’s the (long) short list for my logo design competition. Which one should I pick?

Visit Mr. Gekko

Pretty much everything I’ve learned online that made me money, came from some piece of advise from a chap who calls himself Jscott Gekko (yes as in Gordon Gekko).

Anyways, he’s started blogging, it likely won’t last, so I suggest you visit Gekko Speaks and learn something that can make you money too.

    I prefer logos 9 and 14, the white background lends itself better to various types of applications (Print, apparel, web, etc.) and the logos are brandable and not affiliated with any large companies that come to mind.
    Branding is/will be a huge part of your business and your logo is an ambassador of your brand.

    @Kimber, It’s funny how many times you can mention a blog network in conversation about to-do lists…if you really work at it ;)

  4. I personally like 4, 5, 8, and 9. I also agree that the white background is more conducive to various types of applications. My favorite out of those four is number 9.

  5. I like #10 and #14. #10 lends itself to short form for letterheads or placing that logo alongside other content real well. It’s lively yet professional. However, I’d go with #14 because this is a media company and #14 fits the aesthetics of a media company and gives the impression of professionalism whereas #10 suggests a Web 2.0 startup — not necessarily bad but #14 builds more subconscious strength with the spectator.

    I’ve also been using your system since you posted it, so I guess I owe you a thank you too. I have done some slight modifications…I put lists of experiments to do for one project on one post-it and cross them out as they’re finished (my projects are more linear than yours); also I stapled all the pages together since I don’t have that much wall space near my desk.

  8. @Brian…Yes, I definitely owe you a thanks. Last night my ego was dreaming a bit, and think of what a great picture they could get of me with stickies all over my forehead…I’m thinking for the next week’s cover…LOL.
    @prlinkbiz…huh? Is it the semi-clad Canadian hockey player bod that makes you pose that question?
    …interesting thread of comments you end up with when you mix three completely different topics in a post. Now all we need is Gekko to stir the pot and we’d have a party!
