Art of Money achieves Google Page Rank of 1!

SEO Reporter: “Jon, how did you accomplish this fantastic feat of advanced SEO in only 10 short months online.”

Jon: “Gosh, it was nothing. A couple hundred high quality unique articles, a few thousand high quality incoming links from trusted sites and that’s about it, an Alexa rating of under 80k; it’s a pretty simple formula.”

SEO Reporter: “No seriously Jon, a PR of 1 in only 10 months, you must have used some black hat techniques. Hidden text, CSS trickery, .html injections, referral spam…spill, hat’s the real secret?”

Jon: “No mam, I swear, anyone could do it.”

==============================================

Seriously, it looks like the price of links on my site are going to be a bargain for the next little while. What I suspect caused the drop was the for the first 8 months online I used http://artofmoney.org as the site address. Then I got my hands on this search engine ranking factors study course [aff] and the data in it said that there was a positive correlation between high search engine rankings and having “www.” in front of your domain name.

Based on that info, I decided to switch over and forced all traffic coming in to use http://www.artofmoney.org. I figured the site would take a hit PR wise but I really didn’t think it would be to a PR1. Interestingly, about the same time I made the switch I started receiving a lot more traffic from Google and the traffic has continued to grow ever since.

In some other anomalies from the latest PR update the main site of my blog network did not receive any Page Rank, despite having some high quality incoming links and being online since November 16, 2006; while one site on the network, which went live a month later now has a Page Rank of 3. Kuala Lumpur is Home, which came online only a couple days after Chattanooga is Home has a PR of 0.

Another strange thing I noticed was Ben’s excellent Instigator Blog, which came online in April 2006 and has tons of great links and content, is also a PR of 0.

Maybe they changed it and lower numbers are better now? Or maybe Matt was just having a bad day when he rolled out his Page Rank update export.

Jon, I waited for 6 months for cjcm2u.com to move from PR0 to PR4… so I am happy there, but KL is Home is still PR0.. :( I noticed Google popularity links not really updated in time, when I last checked cjcm2u.com, it has hundreds of links from MSN etc, but Google still has zero. Finally when I got PR4, I noticed Google had finally updated the links as well. But how to explain from PR4 to PR1…. I just can’t understand.. hehe
