Help Me Improve this Site – Win A Prize

Help Me Improve This Blog
Okay, I’ve decided that my website is under performing and I’m determined to find out why. One of my goals this week is to do a complete evaluation of my site and figure out what needs to be changed and then draw up a plan for improvement.
Today I got the very Web 2.0 idea to ask you, the readers, what you’d like to fix, improve or just plain get rid of. You’re welcome to tell me what you think is good too!
To allow for lots of detailed feedback, I’m going to run several posts over the next couple days. Each will present a specific site element that is open for improvement. If things work out as planned, I’m hoping this will also turn into a guidebook for evaluating a website/blog that will be useful to others.
Topics will include:
Design [see the post with details] – how the site looks, elements like fonts, colors, position on the page, logo etc.
Newsletter [see the post with details] – is there any value in it?
Posting [see the post with details] – style, tone of voice, conversational enough, how’s the writing style? do you get my humor…or just think I’m weird? What about posting frequency?
Overall Concept [see the post with details] – is it clear what this site is about? do you like the concept of this site? how to improve it?
You can start with this, but in the next few posts I’ll elaborate on what I mean by each of these items and give you my take on each of them as a starting point for the discussion.
The best comment [as solely judged by me
] based on the concept of constructive criticism, will receive their choice of one of the prizes. Prizes may be awarded for humor value as well, and I may award multiple prizes if appropriate.
The Prize…Your Choice of One of the following:
1.) One hour of my time [can include a 1/2 telephone consultation]. I can do an evaluation of your business, a review of your website, set up a WordPress blog and trick it out a bit for you, brainstorm product ideas with/for you, optimize your AdSense site to get a killer CTR, write you a great article or just about anything else that you can think of for a geeky Internet business guy.
Value: $100 – $200
2.) A Copy of James Brauschs’ Trafficopia traffic selling system. Basically it is a traffic selling system that potentially allows you to replace Google’s AdSense system and own your own pay per click clients. I won a copy in a contest on his site and I already own my own copy because I beta tested it for him. [He has approved me giving away this copy].
Value: $105
3.) A One Year – One Way High PR Link. A link on 200+ pages of a PR5, Dmoz listed, Google trusted, financial site that I own.
Value: $240 +
4.) A $50 Amazon Gift Certificate. Just so I don’t leave out an incentive for those that don’t have a website and aren’t into the whole Internet business thing…buy yourself a book, or some gourmet joe to keep you hyped.
Value: $50
Okay, put your thinking caps on. Our goal is for me to end up with a blog fit for an A-List blogger [not that I'll ever be one, but I really would like to have a professional looking blog].
The contest will close at 11:59 pm Mountain Time [GMT - 6], Monday October 16, 2006.
At the end of the process, I’ll boil down the comments and work out a set of specifications for a new design and then turn it over to a designer, so you can follow the entire project.
