Great minds think alike I guess.
Of course I’d sue if there wasn’t such a long line in front of me.

This video is hilarious, what’s really funny is that it probably isn’t that far from the truth (except for the part about being honest about what you’re doing) for a lot of semi-pro bloggers.
I secretly hope the bloggers on my network are exactly like this.

The ultimate in product placement and contextual advertising, although Google would call it spam I’m sure.
In a speech yesterday George W. dropped a little product placement for “Dell” televisions into his talk.
Check it out:
Could it be the highest priced contextul ad ever. Apparently Michael Dell donated $250k to George Dubya’s campaign fund.

Joel Comm’s AdSense Game
Joel Comm has released a semi-cool little game that teaches you how to create AdSense sites. It’s called the AdSense Game.

Joel Comm has released a semi-cool little game that teaches you how to create AdSense sites. It’s called the AdSense Game.

It allows you to go through the steps of choosing an topic, setting up your template, AdSense placement and color optimization and marketing techniques.

Then it runs a simulation to tell you how much money your site made, presumably based on the parameters you chose.

Wait, he must of stolen this game…from my life! Well my past life anyways. And true to real life…each day the earnings go down a little bit. I’m assuming that the purpose of that is to show you that you need to buy Joel’s AdSense book [which I own btw] but in reality it should be a tip off as to the wisdom or lack of wisdom of setting up a business based on AdSense.

After 2 days I had racked up $444.84

Even though it is obviously a marketing tool to sell books, it actually has a decent amount of similarity to the game of creating niche or made for AdSense sites.

Can you beat my score?

It doesn’t say a lot to the caliber of people online savvy to see how many people are using a search engine to find a search engine and you would HOPE that these people are typing in “google” at some other search engine other than Google; the Wordtracker data is a bundle of search results.

Well it seems that Yahoo and MSN are just a little bit sick of having people search for “google” from their page. Follow the links and notice that they have both included a second search box…as just a not so GENTLE REMINDER that, “ya know, if you’re looking for a search box, to uh, do a search with…well there’s one right in front of you!”

Today I checked my stats for the old site and I discovered that I had referral traffic from DMOZ!

I’m listed in the Personal Finance: Money Management: Weblogs category along with a lot of my friends from the Carnival of Personal Finance. Wouldn’t surprise me if one of the Carnival participants was editing that category.

For anyone in the business of search engine optimization a DMOZ listing is some kind of major attainment since Google and other major search engines consider a DMOZ listing as a reliable vote for a site’s credibility.

The Open Directory Project is the largest, most comprehensive human-edited directory of the Web. It is constructed and maintained by a vast, global community of volunteer editors.

Oh well, maybe in a year or so…I can get Art of Money in there!

Over on Mark Cuban’s blog, he has issued a fun challenge…if Howie Mandel can get

Now that The Apprentice is moving to Monday nights and riding on the coattails of NBC’s newest hit, Deal or No Deal, the Donald is doing the right thing and trying to get a viewership boost from an appearance on the Howie Mandel hosted show.

Of course, being the fun loving guy that I am, and as someone who is always trying to look out for the best interests of Donald Trump, I have decided to make an open offer to Howie Mandel.

Howie, if you can get Mr Trump to pull a rubber glove completely over his head and blow it up on your show, not only will I watch it, I will donate 1 million dollars to the charity of your choice.

Oh, to be in the idle rich club and have fun with my money like this. Don’t know if the Donald will go for it, but I love it that Mark isn’t afraid to take a little jab at him.

Are you ready for the next Million Dollar Home Page idea? This one is just as clever and probably a little more interesting.

The trade of goods and services is the essence of capitalism so what Kyle is trying to do with one red paperclip is to make a series of trades and end up with a house. So far he has done remarkably well. With only 10 trades he has gone from a paperclip worth a fraction of a penny to a professional record deal that I would guess is probably worth a minimum of $15,000 to the right individual.

Although the story is rooted in the old time principles of trade and capitalism, it is really only made possible by the broad reach of the Internet. When you can expand your pool of trading partners to include most of the world then you really can leverage the one man’s garbage is another man’s treasure [think eBay!] to the max.

I just love it when someone takes a simple idea and turns it into magic! My guess is that Kyle’s house is about 10 trades away, depending on where he wants to live, of course.
