Blogger or Internet Marketer?

I just stumbled on this article comparing bloggers and Internet marketers. It struck a cord with me because I think that I struggle to define which one I am.

Here’s a couple example of the distinctions made in the article:

I’ve seen so many bloggers state “That’s my affiliate link” right after they post it on their blogs. It’s almost as if they’re afraid of their readers finding out that they somehow benefit by putting that link up. They feel guilty making money from others with an affiliate link, so they clearly brand it as such.

The Internet marketer however has no issues with this. His job is to promote products he feels will benefit his market, and he is not afraid to get paid for it. In fact, the Internet marketer EXPECTS to get paid for his efforts, or he doesn’t bother doing it at all.

The article goes on to explain a couple other key differences. It obviously has a bias towards being an Internet marketer as the author seems to be saying that Internet marketers are professionals and bloggers are amateurs; in fact there are amateurs and pros in each category.

As usual, I’d like to take the best of both and use them whenever appropriate. What do you think about this debate?

  1. Hey Jon the mirror man!
I see you as a business owner who will likely outsource IM, blogging, the kitchen sink etc, if it brings you closer to the freedom and satisfaction you are looking for…
