The first thing you should know is that the most difficult thing for me to write is an “About Me” page
I remember in my high school year book it said: “Jon didn’t tell us much about himself” and the same pretty much holds true today.

But, being the sharp Internet marketer that I am, I know that one of the most popular pages on any blog, or site in general is the “About” page. Of course this makes sense, people want to know something about who they are reading and especially why, or why not they should believe him/her.

For me it all started when I read my first book by Robert Kiyosaki [aka Rich Dad] which was in November of 2004. I realized that being a computer programmer creating an online business would be an excellent way to create passive income. My first site chronicled the first year or so of my online business and financial intelligence boosting efforts. This site takes over from there and has been online since February 2006.

During the 18 months or so that I have been applying Rich Dad’s principles, I’ve been able to grow my net worth from about 9k to the current level of just under 100k. This has been accomplished primarily by being willing to try new ways of thinking about money.

It is my belief that it is my inner thoughts and self inflicted limitations that are the primary determiner of my financial situation and net worth. I love to stretch my financial mindset and it has been that which has contributed the most, way more than any actual actions that I’ve taken, to the turn-around in my financial situation.

I believe in getting good advice. Lately I’ve begun to actually spend money on products and information to speed up my business efforts.

I am married, no kids and slightly over 40 years old. For most of my adult life I had a feeling that I was never going to make it to middle age, therefore there was no reason to plan for it. Confronted by irrefutable evidence of the contrary, I am now forced to scramble to secure a comfortable retirement.

My financial philosophy would be considered unconventional by most traditional measures. Since I am late to the party, some of the moves I make would be considered too high risk for most investors and entreprenuers.

I believe there are two primary keys to financial success:

  1. Be open to expanding your mind: for me the best methods I’ve found to accomplish this are to interact with people who are richer or more knowledgeable than me and to play the Rich Dad board game Cashflow 101.
  2. Take action! It’s a cliché, but it is way better to get started and make a ton of mistakes than to sit around and dream about getting rich.
